Synology DiskStations come complete with the most advanced UI found in a NAS called DiskStation Manager (or DSM for short). Using DSM, your files are freed from typical storage limitations, and your DiskStation becomes your own private cloud.

All Synology DiskStations come with the award winning software, DiskStation Manager (or DSM for short). DSM is our full-featured intuitive management software, which includes a whole host of features to access, share and backup your data. Synology has a wide range of storage solutions to meet every budget. Synology DiskStations vary by number of bays, or the number of hard drives the model accepts, and the performance capabilities. Each of our models names are designed to tell you a little bit about the unit itself.

The year the model was released.
The last digit is the performance class that the model it is in. This varies from our lower end j series, up to the standard, plus series, and the xs+ series.
